BlogTour diary: Part 1

I have been desperate to share with you my incredible trip to New York with BlogTourNYC, and now that I have a small break from shooting, I can do just that.
When I left for New York I had a mix of nerves and anticipation, sad, as I was leaving my children, but excited at what lay ahead.  BlogTour was all make possible by one very creative and incrediable reason; Modenus, with a thank you also going to our sponsors.

Whilst the rest of the group flew with Virgin, I had the pleasure of flying with Untied Airlines, and I wasn’t disappointed.  It was a smooth check-in and the flight was almost empty, I had three seats to myself which meant I could spread out and (sadly) do some work.  I arrived at Newark airport to find my transfer ready and waiting, and once the lovely Toma had arrived, we were off (in a very stylish Mercedes) to meet the rest of the BlogTour Group!!!

We were all staying at the centrally located Tryp Hotel, a brand new Hotel tucked into the heart of Manhattan at 345 West 35th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues.  The interior was very striking, housing a mix of light wood clad walls with a raw finish , stylised leather sofas and ever fashionable light bulb pendants, suspended at various heights above the bar.

My room was fantastic and very relaxing.  With a HUGE bed and lots of natural light, it also had some pretty cool features, such as my solid wood headboard decorated with key words from famous New York songs, and a funky high gloss desk that became the hub of my social media interaction.  It was also an extra treat for me as I had 4 nights of uninterrupted sleep (quite a rarity at home thanks to my two beautiful little daughters).

After a quick freshen up, we all congregated at the bar.  Within minutes the bar staff involved us in a drinking game, which entailed pouring wine into our mouths from a great distance.  I was the first to have a go (well someone had to!) and Will was next-hilarious!

We then headed off to our first evening meal at the lovely Barbes.  It’s named after the famous Paris neighborhood at the foot of the Sacre-Coeur, also known as the ‘little piece of North Africa’. The Northernmost part of Africa, the Maghreb, is comprised of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia with cultures captivating with their cuisine, music and decor.  It was great to see so many old faces from Blog Tour London.  I was sat with the lovely Emily Peck from Achica, Kate from Fabric of My Life, Katie from Confessions of a Design Geek and Jackie from Modenus.  Thanks again for a great evening ladies!

We had been sent our itinerary in advance of our trip, and so the excitement on Twitter and email was at feever pitch.  Follow the next few posts to see what the following days had in store….!
