Original Art under £100

Whilst scouting for affordable artwork to use on an ITV home makeover show (airing in January 2015) I found this fantastic new art website; Original Art Under £100.  The site was created by husband and wife team, Mary Sheridan and Bob Barber from Hertfordshire, in a bid to make original art accessible to everyone, rather than just the privileged few.  As the site’s name suggests, Original Art Under £100 only exhibits original works at prices under £100, and after just 18 months, it has attracted over 80 artists, exhibiting over 700 works; take a look at some examples of art below:

But what about the quality of the art at this price point? Can you really pick up good original, signed works for under £100? Generally speaking, we found the quality of the art to be pretty good. As you might expect, since everything’s priced under £100, you may have to do a little bit of digging to get to something you really like – but the site is very user friendly and with 700 odd pieces available, there’s certainly no shortage of choice.

Member artists manage to keep their prices so low, because unlike other original art sites (which typically take between 30 & 50% of the sale price), here there’s no commission on sales. Instead artists sell direct to the buyers and pay a small annual fee to exhibit their work. If a customer sees a painting they like, they simply click to contact the artist directly, who emails them back with payment/delivery details.

So if you’re looking for truly affordable original art, hop over to their site and take a look.
