As we are only a stones throw away from December, Pippa Jameson Interiors are going to start the festivities by showing you how to create one of the most popular Christmas trends; ‘Scandi’ style. With a key palette of red, green and cream, Scandinavian style has been surfacing at Christmas time for the last few years and is growing year on year, so much so that you can now shop for the look at all of your local high street stores. The image below is from one of my Christmas shoots and best of all, every piece is from Asda which means you can decorate your home with an ‘on trend’ look at a price that won’t break the bank.

There are lots of ‘makes’ you can do that will help to creative a fun and festive scheme. One idea that works well with the Scandi look is to hang your decorations from a large twig or branch. The log in the image below is too big, but demonstrates how pretty the rich red tones can look against the natural bark and textures of wood. Once you have found a branch that’s a suitable size, attach it to the wall with a couple of hooks (I would recommend 3M hooks as they can be stuck to any wall, can take large weights and don’t leave any sticky residue, click the link to find your local worldwide stockists. Uk residents can find them in B&Q) Hook your baubles onto the branches and hang above the mantlepiece, over a dining table or above a doorway but be sure to secure it properly and out of reach of the little ones!

The below image is from a shoot I did for 3M and is another great example of how to style your home without it costing a fortune. If you don’t have a fire or mantlepiece at home then you can still hang your traditional wreaths and stockings. They look just as good on the wall as they do above a fireplace, you can even add your own little touches with pretty accessories such as wooden hearts and ribbons, like we have done in the image below. If you’re feeling really creative, you can make your own wooden shapes including hearts and stars; they make great gift tags too (a little post to follow about this soon).
The small trees on the side table are actually fake (SSsshhh) which means you haven’t got to worry about the care and maintenance, and you can bring them out year after year, try shopping at Dobbies for ones below . Nearly all of the decorations are from Tesco, which just goes to show that you really can have an affordable AND stylish Christmas.
