‘Every now and again I get the urge to revamp or rearrange part of my house (much to my boyfriend’s annoyance, as allocated furniture-hauler). Last week however, tempted out by some spring sunshine, my attentions were turned towards the old greenhouse/junk overflow extending off the back of our house.
Fed up with competing for space on the kitchen table, I’d been mulling over the idea that one day I’d convert this neglected dumping-ground into a study/studio type thing. Generously speaking, this place is pretty small, and there was a part of me that thought it might not be worth the effort. Acting on impulse however, once I’d started and emptied the contents onto the lawn, there was no going back.
It doesn’t take long for me to make myself comfortable and as you can see, after an hour of productive pottering, a once redundant space was transformed into a useful little work haven. I’m not sure that the presence of a study has massively increased productivity, though I’m glad I finally gave up on the far-fetched notion that I might one day use this space for gardening, and got round to making it into something that I’ll actually use!’
