Good Homes cover shoot February

A big Happy New Year to you all! Can you believe it’s 2019 already!? The months leading up to Christmas were a little crazy with shoots but then it’s always lovely to see the features out in the New Year. We had our Indian Mumbai shoot (pics out later this month) then our location house shoot in Ideal Home magazine (Feb issue – out now) and then two cover shoots for Good Homes magazine (Feb issue is out now).

As with all cover shoots, there is a lot of planning for the angles as they have to work for the strapline and all the text. There also has to be something that draws the reader in to make them want to pick it up and buy it. In this case, it has to be the super gorgeous Costello sofa from Sofa.com. I think we all wanted to purchase it after the shoot but if any of you have seen my home, there is no way a canary yellow sofa would work!!

Anyway, onto the style for 2019. Expect to see more punchy velvets combined with confident and bold wall colours such as rich raspberry, deep forrest green and dark teal. Yes, it can be hard to match the tone, but if you follow a guide (or just copy the paint colours from our shoot!) then you can get it spot on. Or, you can drop me an email and I will help you. Finish the look with splashes of brass and tonal flowers and you have yourself a coherent and inviting scheme that will pack a punch.

As with all shoots, there is always a sterling team behind the lens. My fab assistants Alex Raynbird  Cassie Durnell  and Samantha Latham. Jess Taverner from Good Homes who is so much fun to work with and the super talented Jo Henderson for the great pics.
