Dulux Colour of the Year is Cherished Gold

This morning I attended the press breakfast for Dulux ‘Colour of the year 2016’ which was revealed to be Dulux Cherished Gold.

As with all trend predictions, it’s always interesting to know how and why these colours are chosen, Dulux said “Gold tones are being used everywhere in the design world.  It is a reoccurring colour and material at design fairs and in graphic design as well as in architecture, fashion, beauty and interior decorating”.

As an Interior Stylist, I have witnessed first hand this obsession with gold. The coined phrase ‘yellow metals’ was being bounced around industry events well over a year ago and even got a mentioned in my trends talk for May Design Series last spring.

I will be writing more about this colour along with 4 further trends in the next few days. In the meantime,  Dulux have produced some beautiful photography showing you how to use this hue within your home and have suggestions of what tones will sit alongside this bold colour.

I would love to hear your thoughts…
